CHCSI Teams Up to Give Sports Physicals

This year, Dr. Abel Cruz, from the Community Health Centers of Southern Iowa and Lamoni Chiropractic Center will again come on site to conduct sports pre-participation physical for our students on May 17th at no cost. Students may also elect to have their personal physicians perform the examination which must be paid for by the family of the student. Regardless of who performs the physical, all students who expect to compete in high school sports must complete the full sports pre-participation physical.

A sports physical is an important part of the sports program at the Lamoni School System.  There may be instances when a health condition requiring medical treatment may be diagnosed that otherwise would have gone undiscovered.  Sports pre-participation physicals are designed to identify health problems that may affect young athletes ability to play or that may result in injury or medical illness in a young developing athlete.

Parents will be asked to sign a release form for this examination. Any parent with questions or concerns should contact Rachel Kelsey, school nurse, to better understand physical process and possible outcomes of it.
